The Lifestyle Department at Vi at Palo Alto has always sought to help residents connect with each other and to discover new passions and hobbies in retirement. However, just like the rest of the world, we had to adapt to a new normal as stay-at-home orders continued across the country. With the help of staff members across all teams, the department jumped into action to find creative ways to bring the sense of community and connection to the residents. Discover just a few of the ways that staff members keep residents engaged and connected while keeping them safely apart.

For the past 35 years, Kevin Schlegel has been a dedicated employee at various properties throughout the Bay Area — from his humble beginnings as an hourly worker at a Hyatt hotel in San Jose to his current position at Vi at Palo Alto, where he’s served since the community opened in 2005.

For most of his life in the United States, Ubaldo Tostado has been part of the Vi family.

John Koselak, the new Executive Director at Vi at Palo Alto, is no stranger to Vi. As part of the management team that opened the Bay Area Vi location back in 2005, Koselak was integral in getting the community off the ground.
