Vi at Palo Alto Senior Community

A Statement on COVID-19 from Vi

Updated: May 2, 2020

The health and safety of Vi at Palo Alto's residents and staff will always be our highest priority. As such, the infection control measures that we have instituted will remain in place for the foreseeable future. Following the guidelines and recommendations of the CDC, as well as federal, state and local health authorities, Vi will continue maintaining stay-at-home restrictions and protective measures to safeguard our residents, their neighbors and our staff.

At this time, symptomatic and non-symptomatic COVID-19 cases continue to be recorded in meaningful numbers in the Santa Clara County area. Relaxing our control measures prematurely, while new infections are still being reported in surrounding areas, could result in a spike in new cases, the possibility of overwhelming hospitals, and a potential increase in preventable deaths.

While we are maintaining our safety protocols, Vi has initiated a planning process to help determine the timing and logistics of a phased relaxation of infection control and quarantine protocols. It is prudent for us to begin the planning process now, to facilitate a conservative, cautious and phased strategy to re-introduce certain services when the time is right. We believe that Vi communities are at best, weeks, if not months, away from relaxing our existing precautionary protocols.

We continue to offer many virtual resources to positively impact the mind, body & spirit of our residents: TED Talks, Great Courses, Museum Tours, Fitness Classes, Cooking Classes, Puzzles and Stir-Crazy activities are just a few of the offerings to help keep our residents active and connected.

We have developed a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to address specific issues in more detail. Download our FAQs document.
